Zoom is one of the first multi effects pedal manufacturers to begin producing signature multi effects. The signature series includes pedals by George Lynch, Richie Kotzen, Michael Amott, Kiko Loureiro, and John 5. Also, coming in April/May (according to Zoom) is the Dave Mustaine Signature Multi Effects Pedal.
The George Lynch Signature Pedal has a slightly different look than the others in the series with a metallic flake look to it. The G2G provides 40 patches (20 studio and 20 live) created by George Lynch himself along with 40 patches for the user to fill with their own creations.
Based on Zoom’s G2, the G2G has 32-bit processing and 96 kHz sampling, a built-in drum machine, a metal chassis, metal footswitches, three parameters per effect and fast patch-switching.
Sound – I have never been a big fan of the “Zoom sound”, but I think this is changing, and Zoom is starting to create some great, innovative products. Keep in mind this pedal is in the $100-$200 range, so it is not aimed at the touring professional, but is is a great product for someone looking to expand their sound horizons at home.
Multieffectpedal.com will be keeping a close eye on Zoom over the next few months as they introduce the Dave Mustaine Signature Multi Effects Pedal, and the very interesting looking Zoom G3. The Zoom G3 is basically a simple 3 stompbox layout in a rugged looking chasis, allowing you to cycle different stompboxes through the 3 available positions on the face of the unit. Very cool and simple idea. Stay tuned!!
